How to Delight Your Affiliates - Part 3

Another thing that the majority of affiliates are looking for in a program is one that pays on time and within a reasonable amount of time. To keep affiliates happy, be very clear on when you pay and how often, and then make sure to meet that timetable each and every time.

Offering the affiliates a way to track their sales on an ongoing basis is also a good way to garner loyalty and enthusiasm. Seeing the results only every two weeks or even every month is not the best way for them to see the immediate results of their sales techniques. Having a way to track the results daily will allow them to change the techniques that are not working and add on things that will. This also ends credibility to the vendor, allowing the affiliate to see the numbers and not simply to trust that they will be there when the payments are made.

Of course the most important way to keep affiliates happy is to offer a quality product and a high commission rate. If no one seems to want to join in the network to promote a certain product, it may be time to look at the product and its pitch page and decide whether either one need some work. And if there are plenty of affiliates signed up and yet few sales are being made, that’s another sign that something may be wrong. If the materials to promote a product are lacking, or if the commission rates are simply not high enough, sales will suffer. If sales suffer for long enough, consider revamping your commission structure. There are many affiliates who will simply not consider selling for very low commission rates. Raise them and see if the entire network doesn’t become more energized toward making sales. Keep the affiliates
enthusiastic and the sales will be too.

To make sure that you are not losing affiliates due to having an inferior commission structure, it pays to do research on the competitors’ rates. Their affiliate pages should mention the commission rates, so take note. Also notice what other rates are in the same industry. If you have an ebook with a rate of 20 percent, look at other ebooks in your niche, but also look at ebooks as a whole. Other ebooks with similar themes may have similar commission rates, but if ebooks about a different topic are paying 50 percent, you will still lose affiliates. If the rate in your niche is below other niches, it will pay for affiliates simply to find a new niche.

To make affiliates even happier, offer several different methods of payment. An affiliate may be uncomfortable with an online payment, as with PayPal, and want a physical check instead. There are some affiliates who want direct deposit into their bank accounts. Some affiliates prefer alternative payments, such as wire transfers. The more ways you offer payment, the more likely it is that you will make the individual affiliates happy.

If you are using Clickbank to manage the affiliate network and relying on them to send the payments, there is no alternative to the checks that are sent out directly to affiliates through their system. It may be a good idea to have some affiliates outside of the Clickbank system for those who do not want to be paid by check. International affiliates in particular may not want to wait for a check to be mailed and then have a lengthy wait for an international check to clear. In Europe, wire transfers are common and affiliates may be seeking out networks that will pay through a transfer.

Affiliates will also appreciate a low commission payout. If your payout is set to $100 or more, an affiliate may feel that it is too risky to set their time and money toward selling a product when they may not get a payment anytime soon. Any payment, even a small one, will show the affiliate the rewards of being in your network. A payout of $25 is on par with the most network payouts, and should not be too difficult for most affiliates to meet. You might even decide to distinguish yourself with a super low payout to attract new affiliates, such as $10. This also establishes your company as a legitimate one that really pays like it says it does.

Above all, let your affiliates know you appreciate them. Affiliates are there to make money for themselves, but they are also there to provide a service to you. They are the ones rowing the boat, and a captain who doesn’t appreciate that may have to row it himself. Even if an affiliate is not emailing with questions or complaints, email every once in a while just to touch base and make sure the affiliate isn’t having any problems with promotions. The occasional unsolicited contact will be appreciated by most affiliates, but make sure not to email too often. A weekly email could get bothersome, so simply stay in communication often enough that the affiliate knows he has not been forgotten.

An affiliate manager who does not stay in contact with the affiliates will not stay on the mind of those affiliates. Those neglected affiliates may not even remember the company after a while. Stay in contact with your support and encouragement in order to keep affiliates happy. Affiliate recruiting becomes much more fruitful in the long run when you delight affiliates you already have in your arsenal.

The Origins of the Humble Tea Leaf

The Origins of Tea

According to mythological fables, there are many tales of the origin of tea. The first one comes from over 4500 years ago. The Second Chinese Emperor Chen Sung(circa 2737-2697 BC) was sitting beneath a tree while his servant was boiling some water. A leaf from the tree above fell into the boiling water and Chen Sung tried the brew and liked it. The tree was a tea tree, of course.

Another fabled origin of tea comes from Bodhidharma, the traditional founder of the Zen school of Buddhism. The Japanese claim that he brought tea with him from India to China. The Indian legend proclaims that after 5 years of a 7 year sleepless meditation exercise on the Lord Buddha, BoddhiDharma began to feel sleepy. He immediately plucked a few leaves from a nearby bush and chewed them which thereby kept him awake. The bush was
a wild bush tree. Another story along these lines has him plucking off his eyebrows when they started drooping and he threw them on the ground. It is reputed that 2 tea trees sprang up that had the power to keep him awake and alert.

Whatever the truth is, the raw leaves of the tea tree were probably used as food from the earliest times by the native populations of Southern China. A chinese text of 50 BC mentions tea being prepared by servants. Historians and scholars have tea being cultivated in Szechuan around the 3rd Century AD. There are many authentic references to tea in the Chinese dictionary circa 350 AD.

In the 8th Century the Chinese author Lu Yu wrote the first book on tea, the “Ch’a Ching”. This book summarised all the accumulated knowledge to date about tea growing and preparation. There were many illustrations of tea making utensils. This book succeeded in giving a major impetus to the drinking of tea by the upper classes. Some say that this book inspired the Buddhist priests to create the Japanese tea ceremony.

Early Processing of tea.

In the 4th Century the fresh green tea leaves were picked , squeezed into cakes and then roasted to a reddish color. These cakes were crumbled into the water and boiled, meanwhile adding onion, ginger, and orange peel. This tea was considered to be a good remedy for stomach problems, bad eyesight and many other diseases, but must have been a very bitter brew indeed.

Around about the 8th Century the bricks of tea were now boiled with only a little bit of salt. In the Tang Dynasty, this tea recipe was the national drink of the ruling classes. Tea was beginning to be exported to Tibet, Turkey , India, and Russia because of its easy transportability.

The first mention of tea outside China and Japan was by the Arabs in 850 AD. Some say that they introduced it into Europe throught the port of Venice. The Portuguese paved the way for the entry of tea into Europe also because of their exploration of the sea passages to China as early as the 16th Century. Jesuit priests coming back from the East brought back their tea drinking habits back to Portugal. The Dutch merchants got in on the act as well. In 1610, regular shipments of tea to ports in France and Holland were started. In the late 17th Century, the English East India Company entered the trade.

Beginnings of the names for tea.

In the 4th Century in China, the Chinese word t’u was often used to describe shrubs besides tea. The modern term for tea comes from early chinese dialect words such as Tchai, Cha and Tay. These words were used to pertain to both the drink and the leaf. Tea is known as Cha or Chai in India to this day. In japan, the word Cha is used to describe both tea and a hot broth.

Early Benefits of Tea.

From the earliest times tea was recognised and enjoyed because it is a healthy refreshing beverage. Made from the dried leaves of the camellia sinensis plant, tea is said to have antioxidant properties, can fight the flu virus, and boosts the immune system.

For Long Term Success I Prefer Joint Ventures

If you’ve been marketing on the Internet for long you probably have heard about the power of Joint Ventures (JV’s). Over the years, I have labored trying to do everything myself. I finally realized you can get more done with the help of others. Accounting, web programming and graphical design come to mind in an instant. You’re better off outsourcing jobs rather than trying to learn it yourself. Bottom line? You just can’t do everything yourself… If you want to be successful you have to delegate jobs… period.

Once you start doing this you’ll find trusted people you can count on to get the job done so you concentrate on the most important function of your business - the marketing! And a huge part of marketing is creating a customer list of your own. The bigger the better. You can make about a $1.00 per name every month from your own “house” list. If you build a quality list of targeted prospects you can start enjoying the good life… just ask anyone who owns a list of 5,000 customers or more. You can make money easily with your own in-house offers, and quickly cash in endorsing products from others. This is where Joint Ventures come in. They are huge money-makers. Most businesses shy away from them because they think they’ll lose their customers. But this is nonsense if you have good customer service and offer your customers only high-quality products or services. If you do, they aren’t going anywhere. And you’ll profit from your good business sense…

So how do you do a Joint Venture? First, you need to look at your customer base and figure out their buying habits. The easiest way to find this out is to simply ask them through a survey, contest or simple questionnaire. Let them tell you what they’re interested in. The products or services you offer should be matched to your business. For instance, real estate agents can easily endorse landscapers, carpet cleaners, and house painters. Once you find a JV partner you can put together a campaign to your list offering a special deal because, of course, they are your valued customer. You can work out a 50-50 split on gross profit with your JV partner, or better, without a hitch (remember that they are building their list too, so don’t be afraid to get a good deal!). And yes, this works both ways. If you have a product you can quickly build a huge list using Joint Ventures. Find firms who have products that are a “fit” with you and put together a campaign they can’t refuse. Even if you break even on the offer you’ll pick up hundreds of customers you can profit from for years to come.

All in all, Joint Venture’s are an often-forgotten strategy many businesses could use to profit quickly and easily.

How To Leverage Affiliate Marketing For Investment-Based Businesses

Today, many individuals want to take part in the stock market, and other types of investing. As technology improves, it is becoming even easier for an individual to buy and sell stock without the intervention of a traditional stock broker. Aside from this, there are also a number of businesses designed to help individuals invest with better rates of success. In some cases, these modified stock brokers offer affiliate marketing opportunities.

With a little bit of practice and research, you can make a reasonable profit by taking part in certain affiliate networks dedicated to investment strategies. As an example, the Forex affiliate markets may offer you a number of opportunities. Because Forex trading is, essentially, an investment in the currency of a particular nation, it tends to result in gains that are not realized in the traditional stock market.

You may also want to look for affiliate markets dedicated to life insurance. Chances are, if you have looked into obtaining a life insurance policy, you know that many investors use them as hedge funds. Aside from the fact that certain policies are easy to liquidate, people that purchase these plans are often committed to paying their premiums for a long time. Therefore, an affiliate program related to this type of investment can also help you realize a number of long term gains.

When it comes to looking for affiliate market niches, businesses related to investment strategies can offer a number of opportunities. Depending on your interests, you may even want to create your own affiliate marketing networks based on specific investment strategies. That said, as with anything else related to investing, you will want to carefully read your contracts to make sure you will not lose money.

Earn Extra Residual Income Online - 5 Ways

Why would you want to earn extra residual income online? Residual income allows you to leverage your time. The idea is that you put in an initial time and effort which will earn you extra residual income. You get paid multiple times for something which you do once.

1. One way to earn extra residual income is to join affiliate programs that pay you recurring commissions. For example, there are many membership sites online with residual income compensation structures. Website hosting companies usually have a referral program that pays you regularly. When you refer someone to this type of affiliate program, you will earn income as long as they stay active in that program. The key is that you have to advertise your affiliate program to a targeted audience.

2. Multiple tier affiliate programs can also help you create more residual income. To succeed with multiple tier affiliate programs, you have to recruit affiliates who are actively recruiting. These active affiliates will build your downline and enable you to earn extra income by leveraging the efforts of others. To find active affiliates, you can use an online system that acts like a funnel and initially sorts prospects for you.

3. Online investing is another way to earn more residual income. Of course, it is not a guaranteed way to make more money but it take advantage of the power of time. First you will have to join an online brokerage. These brokerages let you manage your own investments online and are cheaper than traditional brokerage firms. Before you start investing online, make sure you have some system in place to determine how you will buy and sell your investments. If you do not have a system, then emotion will likely take over. It will probably cause you to actually decrease your income instead of earning more.

4. Start your own membership site. Take a look at your hobbies and interests. Take an inventory of what you are passionate and knowledgeable about. If you think you do not have any knowledge or services to share, remember that everyone has knowledge that others would like. The good thing about a membership site is that if it provides value, people will continue to subscribe and earn you residual income. If you continue to improve your site all the time, your residual income will grow.

5. If you think that starting a membership site is too much work, then consider joining a proven residual income generating system. A big advantage with an income system is that it can be duplicated. Duplication can increase your residual income because your referrals will have the same income system you have. They will be able to figure out what to do to start earning income because they have a system like you do.

Children’s Audio Books - Educational and Entertaining

The ever popular children’s genre has been around for a long time, and is extremely popular with children from all age groups and from all over the world. Even those children that cannot read, can still enjoy stories via children’s audio books. In any case, narrated stories have always been a popular past time for growing children, and children’s audio books allows them that experience in the comfort of their own home, or even on the road!

The early history of children’s audio books saw them produced strictly on cassette tapes. As our technology advanced, the cassette tapes soon gave rise to the ever popular compact disc (CD). But, what really gave children’s audio books a real push forward was the introduction of digital audio books - those that could be downloaded from the Internet, to a favorite MP3 player, such as iPod. The selection of mediums (cassettes, CD, digital download) gives children the ability to enjoy a range of children’s audio books more than ever before.

Now that children’s audio books have grown in popularity, we’re starting to see an increase in available titles, published alongside regular paperback and hardcover editions. In most cases, you can expect to find many popular children’s audio books, such as the Harry Potter series, in major books stores and retailers. But fret not - even if a particular item isn’t available in stores, simply hop online to an audio book site and download a limitless selection of children’s audio books to your child’s MP3 player! Selections can be downloaded to an MP3 player (or your computer) in a matter of minutes.

Children’s audio books aren’t simply for entertainment anymore - they can be extremely valuable teaching tools too. If you’re child is learning to read, then making use of children’s audio books alongside a printed book will allow them to follow the words as they are narrated - helping them make the connection between spoken and written words. But it doesn’t stop there. Children will be much more likely to gain important knowledge from audio books, simply because the audio books are more stimulating than a typical classroom setting.

And don’t worry, the narrative quality of professionally published audio books are outstanding. We’re not talking computer synthesized voices here, but actual human narrators, some of which have won awards for their ability to draw a reader in with his or her story telling abilities. Some popular narrators include: Ron McLarty, Scott Brick, George Guidall, Frank Muller, and even Stephen King himself. This is just a small list of the talented voices used in narrating a story. And believe me when I say that the narrator can make or break a story, based on his or her talents!

Can you possibly think of some other ways that your child might enjoy, or benefit, from listening to children’s audio books? There are numerous applications, but let’s not forget one very important one: listening simply for the sheer enjoyment of it all!

AudioBookGeek.com provides many resources for enjoying audio book downloads, and rentals, including children’s audio books. The site includes reviews, news, and frequent discounts, so that you can enjoy your audio books while taking it easy on your bank account!

Simple Leadership Basics

A great cloud of jargon, debate, and junk theory surrounds the idea of leadership, what it is, who does it, and how to do it well. But if you have just been promoted, and you’re responsible for a group for the first time, there are only a few things you really need to know about leadership.

When you get promoted and become responsible for the performance of a group you become a leader. But you don’t undergo some magical change. In fact, it will probably take you over a year to completely adjust to your new role.

You’re a leader because the people in your group treat you like one. The only choice you have is what kind of job you’ll do.

When you become a leader your power actually goes down. As an individual contributor, you just have to decide to work harder, longer or smarter to improve performance. When you’re responsible for the performance of a group, the group is your destiny. They choose whether to act or not.

When you become a leader, your influence goes up. The people who work for you pay attention to what you say and do. They adjust their behavior accordingly.

The result is that you use your behavior (what you say and do) to influence the behavior of the people who work for you to achieve a defined objective.

Achieving the objective is part of your job as a leader. The other part is caring for your people.

It may be possible to achieve good short term results without caring for your people. But you can’t achieve long term success for you or your company without the willing cooperation of the best folks you can find.

At the end of the day, you can measure your leadership based on those two standards. Did we accomplish the mission? Are the members of my group better off today than yesterday?

Wally Bock is an author, speaker, consultant and coach who helps leaders improve the performance and morale of their teams. Making Money With Affiliate Programs and Marketing

See that title? Many of us see that at least once a day online. However, most people get the wrong idea. It sounds like a get rich quick scheme and people use it accordingly.

The biggest mistake people make is they throw up a website with 100 blinding banners. Set it and forget it might sound good for informercial rotating ovens, but it doesn’t work when your trying to create a successful website.

There are probably millions of dead websites out there where people became an affiliate and quit when they saw nothing in return. But how do you expect to get traffic and income if no one knows about your site?

The best advice is to choose an affiliate that doesn’t have huge competition. It will be hard to get your foot in the door if 10 million other people are advertising the same product. I know of one person who makes a comfortable amount per month as an affiliate for a foot product. Not many would pay attention to it and that left him with a lot of room to advertise without being over taken by similar ads and competition.

If you want to be an affiliate but don’t want the hassle of a website, then consider using a landing page. Some affiliates such as dentalplans give you a free landing page but not many do. A landing page is your own website you can post to search engines, and ad services. It’s different because many affiliates give you a link, banner, or buttons to put on your website. But if you don’t have a website you have no place to put them. So you get a free web page or free website and use that page to presell that product before showing them the door to actually see and buy the product.

Now with invention and popularity of ad services the average person can afford like google’s adsense, adwords, and yahoo’s overture, you can now advertise that page for $5.00 a day and get traffic.

That’s the biggest problem. Traffic. If no one visits your site how can you sell the product? Here are a few tips on gaining traffic.

Article Writing - Write and submit articles. There are literally hundreds of places that let you submit an article for free. What this does is get you free exposure. Websites, blogs, ezines and many other places see the article and use it, but they usually have to leave your info intact. So you put your website address and soon it’s being seen many different places.

Search Engine Submisssion - While Google and many other places has spiders that crawl new and updated sights, don’t forget to submit your site to all the search engines that you can.

Web Directories - Spoke to a new website creator last week who had no idea what directories are. These are other places that you can submit your websites to. One of the most known is dmoz.org.

Also find sites that are similar to yours and kindly ask the webmaster if they would like to trade links. You will be surprised but there are a few that are willing. Don’t trade links with sites that have nothing in common with yours. If you are selling shoes, don’t trade with a site that sells porn. Google and other sites don’t look favorably on these sites

Stay away from link and banner farms. They do nothing but send you tons of emails a day. Even though they promise lots of traffic to your website, that rarely happens, and when it does, it’s traffic from a popup window that came up on someones website. Think of how often you pay attention to popup ads and now think of how others will react to your popup on their screen. Popups long ago stopped being effective and everyday more and more popup blockers and killers are born. So it’s rare if someone even sees your popup before it’s quickly killed.

Many of these link farms and banner exchanges are free, and that goes to say that you get exactly what you pay for and that is absolutely nothing.

Bottom line there are many great articles and free ebooks out there. Do some research before jumping onto the affiliate bandwagon, it could save you a lot of headaches in the future. Good luck with new business and also take a look at all about traffic below.
